I read here over and over that the supposed IR inputs on cable boxes don't work or, occasionally, they work if the carrier is stripped from the signal. What are the chances of your using on the RNCs the system that works with the main box? The RNCs could require an unmodulated IR signal and the CV system doesn't work with that. Next would be this: what is the frequency response of the CV system? And of the unnamed system? It could be that the RNC boxes use a 56 kHz carrier and the CV won't carry it. What is the "other system" that does work? It's always helpful to name everything for instance, if that other system is a Xantech system, that alone could tell us something about your setup. That proves, as you say, that the CV system is working. So the main box is also in the basement, right? And the main box responds to IR signals from the Channel Vision (CV) system, but the RNCs don't?

Could the IR signal coming from the Channel Vision system not be compatible with the RNG-150N box, or is it a faulty cable box? The box has an IR receiver port but I think it is disabled because nothing seems to work through that input. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what might be occurring. The IR over coax signal is recognized perfectly by the primary cable box so I think the emitter is working properly. I can put the emitter in the exact spot where another IR system (over Cat5) works, and the signal is still not recognized. This entire system worked perfectly in the past.Īfter installing the new cable boxes, the RNG-150N rarely picks up the IR signals coming from the Channel Vision system. I use HDMI/IR extension over Cat5 for my larger TV's but I was using a Channel Vision IR-4000 video/IR over coax system for some smaller TV's around the house because I don't have Cat5 available there. I have two cable boxes installed in my basement and I split/extend the signals to various TV's from each box.

I recently had Comcast/xfinity install their X1 platform at my house and the secondary cable box is a Motorola RNG-150N.
